Amstelveen's cultural shows are just as diverse as the public itself. Festivals and performances by international guests and artists often take place in the city. The Schouwburg van Amstelveen is therefore a place where everyone can enjoy music, performances and films. A place for tourists, expats and of course all residents of Amstelveen.

The Language no Problem activities at the Schouwburg are conducted in English or are not even dependent on the spoken word at all.

Dance is part of the culture societies around the world. As a means of communication, dance is used to entice partners, to form and develop bonds, and even rebels can be used to express yourself.

Language or language barriers are the most common forms of communication barriers. It can cause misunderstandings and misinterpretations. Dance is a way of communicating that can be used without speaking a single word and for which you don't need to use a dictionary at all.

The Schouwburg, used to be called Cultural Center Amstelveen, opened in 1975. The current design, which is now an indispensable part of the streets of Amstelveen, was built in 2000-2001 after the building was renamed Schouwburg Amstelveen in 1999.
