Panel 2 - Groenelaan

A long straight road gives its name to the Groenelaan neighborhood. Surrounding it are four car-free neighborhoods with catchy names: Alpen Rondweg (Alps Circular Road), Watercirkel (Water Circle), Kringloop (Loop), and In de Wolken (In the Clouds). These neighborhoods bear names of well-known rivers and mountains. For instance, in Watercirkel, street names are inspired by European rivers like the Thames, Danube, and Tagus. Kringloop features major waterways of the world as its theme, with Nile, Mississippi, and Orinoco. Mountains such as Jungfrau and Mont Blanc can be found along Alpen Rondweg. Other European mountains can be found in In de Wolken, including Vesuvius, Stromboli, and Olympus. You can also find biblical mountains there, such as Ararat, where Noah's Ark ran aground after the flood.

De Bolder
Community center De Bolder is the beating heart of the neighborhood. The community center opened in 1976 and still offers a variety of activities: painting, ceramics, bridge, billiards, the computer club, and the Bolder choir. In the basement was Café D'Onder Bolder, where large parties were held monthly from the opening. These parties always had a different theme: French, Italian, or Moroccan, with matching snacks. DJs played the latest dance hits. The neighborhood was young, with many young families. On dance nights, parents could let loose while during the day, childcare was the priority. With crossing guards to safely guide the little ones across Groenelaan to the kindergartens on the Landtong.
