Autumn tips for Amstelveen
Autumn is approaching again, and that means cozy cafés and atmospheric walks through the forest. And if a typical Dutch autumn shower bursts, there's no need to worry: the cultural season is in full swing, so you can always find a performance or exhibition inside. Even better is the 2-for-1 deal that many cultural organizations are offering this season!
What’s better than going to the theater together and then finding a cozy spot to chat afterward? Repeating the best jokes from a comedian or wondering what the training regimen must look like for all those acrobats during a show like Gravity & Other Myths. For many theater shows, it’s possible to buy two tickets for the price of one in October and November. Below are tips for the most fun shows at Theater de Landing and Schouwburg Amstelveen.
Autumn naturally calls for hearty meals. How about *stamppot*, stews, or pumpkin soup? Dishes that can easily help you brave the cold.
You can find wild mushrooms at places like the Pure Market, and did you know that October is Pumpkin Month at Pluktuin Amstelveen? It’s perfect for creating fun Halloween decorations, but the leftover pumpkin seeds are also delicious to roast.
The tastiest seasonal product from Amstelveen is, of course, the Herfstbock from Naeckte Brouwers. You might be a bit frustrated that you have to wait a little longer at your favorite Amstelveen cafés for the flavorful bock beer that helps you through autumn, but there's a good reason for it. Many cafés hold off on serving bock beer until the Amstelveen Bokkentocht starts. At each participating café, you can pick up a stamp card and get it stamped. With a full stamp card, you can collect a trendy Bokkentocht t-shirt at ANNA.
From Saturday, October 5, the bock hunters can get started at Café The Pub, P60 Café, Du Monde, Abina, Bar Côte d'Or, Café Thijs, Het Wapen van Amstelveen, and ANNA. You can collect stamps until October 20.
As every year, the Stadsplein is transformed into a festival ground with colorful market stalls, authentic Indian food, and a stage full of music and dance. It's a full program. Whether you're coming to enjoy the atmosphere, the delicious food, or for fun Diwali shopping.
The leaves are falling from the trees, and you can’t take a stroll through the forest without hearing the crunch of twigs, acorns, and chestnuts under your feet. It’s getting colder, but fortunately, all the green areas will soon be immersed in fiery orange and red hues to keep you feeling a bit warmer.
As a parent, when you think of autumn, the autumn break probably isn’t far behind, cultural institutions make the most of this period every year with films, performances, workshops, and exhibitions aimed at children.
